REVIEW: Smol Laundry Capsules

Disclaimer: This is an affiliate post meaning if you choose to sign up to Smol products I get free stuff. Wonderful eh. Note: I only work with brands or put my name to brands, that I truly believe will be used and enjoyed by my readers.

I can’t honestly remember what it was I saw that got me started with Smol, but it must have been one of their adverts on social media.

They were offering a FREE sample of 9 laundry tablets. I’m a sucker for free stuff so there I was, hook, line and sinker, handing over my details.

Little did I expect I would fall in love with a new type of laundry detergent.

(I realise that makes me sound really old and boring when I’m getting all excited about laundry detergent. But seriously, hear me out here.)

What and who are Smol?

Big is dead, long live Smol.

Smol’s tagline

Smol are a company revolutionising the laundry capsule world. They have created laundry capsules that smell wonderful, and most importantly, are delivered directly to your home, at the best price, guaranteed.

They cut out the middleman (the supermarkets) which mean the cost is significantly lower than the leading brands.

What makes Smol products so great?

I have had eczema for many years. Mainly on my legs. No idea why my legs but that’s just the way it is. My legs are scarred all over from scratching for years and making myself bleed. Gross.

I’ve spent years and years trying to find the “best” non-bio laundry detergent. Funnily enough there aren’t many options when you can’t handle any kind of perfume on your skin. All those lovely smelling fabric conditioners are out of the question.

The Smol capsules were perfect.

(To clarify, they also produce “regular” or bio laundry capsules, those are the green ones. The non-bio are the blue ones.)

The bio (green) capsules on the left, non-bio (blue) on the right.

Most pleasingly, Smol products arrive through your letter box. The way they package them so beautifully (or is that just me loving the fact that they’re so neatly but efficiently packed?) is so pleasing.

Laundry detergent is surprisingly heavy. And takes up so much room! But Smol tablets are exactly what they say on the tin: small. Smol. You get the idea.

The size of a 40-wash pack of laundry detergent is the same as 360 capsules of Smol.

Is there a catch? No! You place your order depending on how often you complete 24 washes. One standard box contains 24 capsules.

If you can work out on average how many washes you do per week, you can work out how often you need 24 capsules delivered. Simple.

Want to order your first sample box? Click here and try them out for yourself.

Have people coming to stay or an occasion coming up where you know you’ll be doing more laundry than normal? You log onto your account and change the frequency at which you receive your box.

How much does it cost?

A 24 capsule box costs £3.85. Because the capsules are seriously concentrated, you only need one per wash. Even in hard-water areas. We have seriously hard water here, and one capsule per wash works perfectly.

£3.85 for 24 washes works out as 16p per wash.

A pack of 38 Fairy Non-Bio capsules costs £9. This works out as 24p per wash.

An 8 pence difference might not seem much but over hundreds of washes it makes complete sense.

Conclusion

I love not having to worry about whether to have to buy laundry detergent at the supermarket. It’s amazing knowing the Smol products will arrive through the postbox with the regular post ready to use. The cardboard box they arrive in is the perfect size for ending off parcels to others. Happy days all round!

But most of all, I love that I’ve finally found a product that truly is non-biological. Truly and properly sensitive to my (and my daughter’s) incredibly sensitive skin.

Not sure whether to take my word for it? Order your sample box here and believe me, you’ll be signing up to your regular order before you have the chance to say what’s Smol?

Hope you love Smol products just as much as I do!

Until next time,

mummying and me
